WITCH DANCE TROUPE
History
Witch Dancing became a global phenomenon in 2016, after the Wolfshäger Hexenbrut (loosely translates as Wolf-Hunters’ Coven) performed their Schuttel deien Speck dance at a Walpurgis event in Harz, Germany. (click pic for video)
Attracted by the colourful costumes and high-spirited choreography, women all over the world have joined witch dance groups to Shake their Booty (loose translation of Schuttel deien Speck) and to learn other lively Wolfshäger Hexenbrut dances.
After performing in one of those groups for several years, we decided to form our own Troupe, based in Rhode Island. The Hooded Owl Witch Dance Troupe welcomes women of all ages and abilities. There is no charge to join, and neither dance nor choreography experience is necessary (but some basic coordination might be useful!).
You do not have to identify as a witch or wiccan or pagan, we are simply a group of women who love to dance.
